佐藤幸恵 「気配と痕跡」

心象は遠いものを想起させる。海中、土中、宇宙に存在するものや海べりの風景、遺跡のある街であったりと作品をみつめるその場所からは遠く離れた存在を。そして、その想像によって自然とみている者の心に余白という空間を生み出させる。
佐藤のガラスは、鋳造という技法をもちいて特有のガラスを生成させる。そして、陶、金属、木材など異素材との組合せで作品が生まれる。ガラスは透明性・均質性・繊細性と純度ある存在としてイメージしがちだが、佐藤はその物性に着目して透明度を減らし且つ不均質な状態にすることでガラスに流動性を感じさせる空間をつくっている。また、異素材と組合せることでガラスはゆらぎのある存在として映る。
「気配」「痕跡」とは、輪郭が曖昧で不確かな存在だが心には確かに感じるもののことである。佐藤は日常で見過ごしてしまう些細で不確かな存在に焦点をあて、誰しもが一度は見たことがあるモチーフをガラスによって可視化する試みをしている。そして、ゆらぎのある存在として感じられる佐藤のガラスは思考に余白をもたらせてくれる。

Imagery evokes distant things. Things existing in the sea, underground, or in space; seashore landscapes; cities with ruins—presences far removed from the place where one gazes at the work. And through this imagination, it naturally creates a space of blankness within the viewer’s heart.
Sato creates unique glass using the casting technique. Works emerge through combinations with other materials like ceramics, metal, and wood. While glass is often imagined as transparent, homogeneous, delicate, and pure, Sato focuses on its physical properties. By reducing transparency and creating an inhomogeneous state, he generates spaces where glass feels fluid. Furthermore, when combined with other materials, the glass appears as a presence with a sense of fluctuation.
“Presence” and “traces” refer to things with ambiguous, uncertain outlines, yet distinctly felt in the heart. Sato focuses on the trivial and uncertain things overlooked in daily life, attempting to visualize motifs everyone has seen at least once through glass. Sato’s glass, perceived as a fluctuating presence, creates space for contemplation.
